Obituary of Ronald Paul Christman

Ronald Paul Christman, age 79 of Lewiston died Friday October 3, 2014 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness.
Ron was born September 29, 1935 in Troy, NY, the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Kasner) Christman. He graduated from Boy's High School in Brooklyn, NY and served in the U.S. Navy in Helicopter Anti-Submarine duty from 1956 to 1957. After his honorable discharge he attended Brooklyn College and received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959. Ron married Arlene Durkin April 30, 1960. He was employed by IBM for many years as an Engineering Writer, retiring in San Jose, CA in 1993 and moving with Arlene to Lewiston in 1994.
Ron loved playing and coaching baseball. As a young man he had played for the Washington Senator's AAA club. He also had owned and raced six thoroughbreds, one of which was San Mont Andreas, at Woodbine, Ontario. Ron was nominated for the Canadian Race Horse Association Hall of Fame and was to be inducted in Toronto in January of 2015. He also enjoyed walking his dogs. Ron and his wife are communicants of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston.
In addition to his wife, Arlene, he is survived by two sons, Ronald P. (Nancy) Christman, Jr. of Springfield, VA and Kevin W.(Linda) Christman of Noblesville, IN; his grandsons, Andrew, Neal, Scott, Bryan, Garrett, and Connor; three sisters , Margaret "Peggy" (James) Langlois of Lewiston, Marie (Frank) Cassissa of Albuquerque, NM, and Elizabeth (John) Licata of East Islip, Long Island; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Regina Stafford and two brothers, Harold and Robert Christman.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 7, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St. Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. (Please assemble at Church) Burial with Military Honors will be private in the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston, NY 14092.
