Mark D. Cantara, age 52, lifelong resident of Lewiston, died Monday September 29, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.
Mark was born February 22, 1962 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Donald L. and Patricia G. (Moore) Cantara, and was a 1980 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. He was a Motor Equipment Operator for the Town of Lewiston for 25 years until February of this year.
Mark was a long time member of the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Company where he had served as Ladder Captain before becoming an Exempt Member.
He loved hunting, offroading, beekeeping, outdoor cooking with his smoker, and spending time at his camp in the Great Valley.
He is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Karen Sever, and his brother, Paul D. Cantara and his partner Tony Bargas of Jacksonville, FL.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Company, 839 Moyer Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston.
