Obituary of John K. Clement

John K. Clement, 79, of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 25, 1935 to the late M. Kenneth and Ruth L. (Edwards) Clement and has been a lifelong resident of Ransomville.
John attended and graduated from Wilson High School, Robert Wesley College, Erie Tech, Buffalo State, University of Buffalo, and received his Master's Degree from Niagara University in Mechanical Engineering. John began his engineering career at Carborundum Co., followed by Bell Aerospace for 10 years and then for Delphi Thermal Systems (Harrison Radiator) in Lockport for 16 years, retiring in 2000.
John was a avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing; was a dog trainer for Labrador Retrievers and was a member of the 3 F Conservation Club for aver 40 years. In his early years, John was always involved in Stock Car Racing. He was a founding member of the Ransomville "Slopokes" who were instrumental in the Building of the Ransomville Speedway. He served as the Race Director at Lancaster; Cayuga, and Hamilton Speedways in the 1960's and 1970's. John was also a master racing engine builder for many of the top racing teams in Western New York and New York State. Many went on to win Track Championships and prestigious races. In addition, John was a lifelong member of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marvel A. (Hansen) Clement; two children, Karen (Douglas) Magee of Lockport and John (Sharon) Clement of Ransomville; a son-in-law, Todd Moltrup of Newfane; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Courtney) Lederhouse, Chad (Pamela) Lederhouse, Megan and Erika Moltrup, Jonathan, Jeremy and Marissa Clement and Alyssa Lowery; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Noah Lederhouse; three brothers, James (Margaret) Clement of Cranesville, PA, Thomas (Mary Jane) Clement and Gene (Jennie) Clement, both of Spencerport, NY; a sister, Marian Clement of Ransomville; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine Moltrup, who passed away on June 16, 2014.
Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (September 24th) at 11:00 AM from the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, with Rev. William Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to the Ransomville Free Methodist Church.
