Clair E. Henneman, age 95 formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died Wednesday August 27, 2014 in ElderWood Health Care at Williamsville after a long illness. Clair was born May 28, 1919 in Punxsutawney, PA, the son of the late William J. and Esther M. (Vanderpool) Henneman. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving from March of 1944 to his honorable discharge in May of 1946 as a Pfc. Clair served as a machine gunner with the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Division and took part in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. He was the recipient of the EAME Campaign, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory Medals. On August 16, 1944 he married Rowena (Gafford) Henneman. Rowena predeceased him on April 21, 1993. He had lived on Welch Ave. in Niagara Falls for 36 years, the Town of Niagara for 7 years; and the next 10 years in Alabama and North Carolina before returning to New York in 2007. Clair was employed by Union Carbide in Niagara Falls for 40 years, retiring as a foreman in 1983. Always a hard worker, he enjoyed spending time with his family, yard work and walking. He is survived by his daughters, Rojonna Crum of East Amhest, NY and Clairette Littlejohn of St. Catharines, Ontario; his grandchildren, Phil and David Littlejohn, Tricia (Denis) Rancourt, and Dennis (Gina) Crum and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Smith and a brother, Andrew Henneman. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, August 30, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Veteran’s Section in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-9856 or to the Disabled American Veterans, VA Regional Office, 130 S.
