Obituary of Robert G. Rose

Robert G. Rose, age 82 of Lewiston, died Thursday June 19, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Bob was born February 3, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Glenn and Janet C. (Combe) Rose. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1950 graduate of the Lewiston Red Brick School. On March 17, 1952 he married Jill Middleton and in April he was called to active duty by the U.S. Navy to serve in the Korean War. Bob served aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Bennington and was honorably discharged in February of 1954. After his discharge he began a career with the NY Telephone company. He retired in 1990 as a Supervisor and was a member of the Niagara Pioneers. Bob had a passion for the outdoors and farming all his life. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved going to his hunting camp in Zoar Valley. During his retirement he and Jill spent their summers at Rice Lake, Canada and their winters in St. Petersburg, Fl. In addition to his wife, Jill, he is survived by his daughters, Bobbi (Stephen "Nick") Sikoski and Linda (Paul) Hays both of Youngstown, and Laurie (Al) Perri of Ransomville; a son in law, John Roush of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Daniel (Erica) Black, Amy Roush, Kristi (Frank) Strangio, Allison Black, Erin (Ryan) Myers, Stephen Sikoski, Emily (Eric) Sylva, and Robert Perri; his great grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Olivia, Jackson, Mason, Carmen, and Michael; a sister in law, Pat Rose and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold J. and William Rose. Funeral Services and burial in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston, will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Bob's Life on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the family home, 4605 Porter Center Rd. in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
