William Hartman, age 80 of Youngstown, died Friday May 9, 2014 at his home under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
William was born February 26, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Edward and the late Emily Hartman. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to his honorable discharge in 1957. William married Anna (Proietti) Hartman on June 27, 1959 and they have resided in Youngtown the past 45 years. He was employed by Kosdranski Trucking and then TAM Ceramics in Niagara Falls, NY for 39 years, retiring in 1991. William then worked maintenance at Joseph Davis State Park.
William was an Exempt member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 and Fire Police; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 584 in Lewiston; the Disabled American Veterans; and a past member of the 3 F Club in Youngstown. He was an avid bowler for many years and loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna; his daughters, Mariann (Thomas) Coleman of Ransomville and Cynthia (Robert) Bussingham of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Tanya (Steve), Rachel (Dave), William (Jill), Robert and Eric; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Avery, Connor, and Layla; a brother, Walter (Marilyn) Hartman of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister, Joanne (Bill) Feain of North Tonawanda; a sister in law, Ruth Hartman of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Hartman and two brothers, Donald and David Hartman.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday from 3 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. (Please assemble at Church) Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
