Obituary of Roger O. Holycross

Roger O. Holycross, age 67 of Ransomville, died Sunday November 29, 2009 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born December 6, 1941 in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Clayton O. and Ruth Ann (Kronika) Holycross. His family moved to Youngstown in 1955 and he graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 1960. Roger attended Alfred University, SUNY at Cortland, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Niagara University with a B.A. in Accounting in 1982. He employed by Occidental Chemical Company for 35 years, retiring as a Corporate Financial Accountant in 2000. His work took him to Plano, TX, Saratoga, WY, as well as Niagara Falls. He returned to Ransomville to be with his family in 2006.
While living in Saratoga, WY he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saratoga where he sang in the Community and Church Choirs, and volunteered with the Saratoga, WY food pantry. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown was active with the Jaycees. Roger enjoyed reading, the outdoors, camping, horseback riding, computer games, and his favorite pet dog, "Rocky". Most of all, he enjoyed his family and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Diane H. (Moore) Holycross whom he married May 14, 1988; three daughters, Julie (Christopher) Siegel of Lewiston, Susan (James) Fittante of Youngstown, and Carrie Holycross (Oscar Horn) of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Zachary and Kyle Siegel, Emily and Paige Fittante; a sister, Linda Mitchell of Deltona, FL; two nephews, Clayton and Kenneth Garro and a niece, Marilyn Casterline.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating.
There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
