Leon Paczkowski

Leon Paczkowski, 76, of Lewiston, NY, died in Our Lady of Peace on Sunday, March 9, 2014. Born in Nanticoke, PA on November 11, 1937 to the late Stanley and Helen Paczkowski and was a graduate of Nanticoke High School in 1955. Upon graduation, Leon enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged on November 10, 1959. He was employed by Moore Business Forms, Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, from 1962-1970 and then was employed as a pipe-fitter at Olin Mathison for the next 30 years, retiring in 2000. Leon was an avid fisherman and hunter where he enjoyed the Elk Hunts in Colorado and the fishing trips in Upstate NY. He also enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Leon was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston and enjoyed working the Peach Festival. He was a member of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston for over 60 years. On July 14, 1962, Leon was married to Catherine (Bakarich), who just predeceased him on February 11, 2014. He is survived by a sister, Bernice Slota of Niagara Falls; nieces and nephews, Eugene Paczkowski of El Campo, TX, David Whittaker of Nanticoke, PA, Michael Slota, Joseph Paczkowski, both of Niagara Falls, Carol and Joanne of Rochester; and his very dear friend, Richard Davis of Lewiston. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Paczkowski; and a sister, Theresa Whittaker. Friends may call at the Hardison Funeral Home, N. Fourth and Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Thursday from 10-11 AM, where a Prayer Service will begin at 11:00 AM with Msgr David LiPuma officiating.
