Rovena Riordan, age 88 of Youngstown, died peacefully on Friday February 7, 2014 at her home while under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Rovena was born October 21, 1925 in New Eagle, PA, the daughter of the late William and Ruth Marie (Brown) Gandley. She married Emerson R. "Dick" Riordan on June 4, 1942 and moved to Youngstown. Rovena worked at the Old Fort Niagara Post Exchange for many years. She then waitressed at Harding's Restaurant in the 1960's. She had also worked at Fairchild Manor and at Stella Niagara before working in the cafeteria at Lewiston Porter Middle School from which she retired. Rovena was an avid bingo player, enjoyed gardening, and painting by numbers. She was a good fun loving mother and grandmother. Her husband, Dick, predeceased her in 2006. She is survived by her children, Richard (Gloria) Riordan of San Diego, CA, Ruth (Jim) Woodham of Montgomery, AL, Rhonda (Robert) MacVie and Renee Riordan (George) both of Youngstown; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Edna Artman and a brother, William Gandley, Jr. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Monday from 5 - 7 pm. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 11, at 10:00 AM in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd. Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
