James W. Boyce, 81, of Youngstown, NY, died in Our Lady of Peace, Lewiston on Saturday, February 1, 2014 after a short illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 11, 1932 to the late James M. and Mary L. (Dashineau) Boyce. He was a graduate from Trott Vocational High School. On September 20, 1958 he was married to Dorothy J. (Bangs) Boyce and in 1965 they moved to Youngstown in the home that Jim built. Sadly, Dorothy passed away on October 11, 2013. Jim was a very proud Journeyman Ironworker with the Ironworker's Union Local #9 for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a Union Steward and served on the Executive Board of Local #9. Jim was one of the original volunteer drivers of the Vango Service at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, raising dogs and homing pigeons and the outdoors. Jim is survived by four children, Donna (Gordon) Dietz of Wilson, Glenn (Mary Anne) Boyce of Ransomville, Debbie Duncan of Cheyenne, WY, and Bob (Shelley) Boyce of Naples, FL; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Bradley, Andrew, Julia, Jon, Jill, Eric, Rya, Christina, and Heather; his sister, Barbara (Rev. Phil) Bruzzese of Anderson, IN; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 11:00 AM from the funeral home with Rev. Phil Bruzzese officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
