For Jerry with love, Margie
Three
When it all started, we were just three,
There we were, Art, Jerry, and me.
Mom and Dad, how we were blessed,
They showered us with love, a constant caress.
Childhood memories of World War II,
We grew up so patriotic, so true.
We said the “Pledge in those days gone by,
Hands over our hearts with our heads held high.
Our country so proud, it was a time of glory,
Growing up in the 50’s, was a fairy tale story.
Jerry chose to stay at home,
Art and I decided to roam.
For years we barely kept in touch,
Our lives just flew by in a rush.
Distance tends to make things fade,
But in our lives, great memories were made.
All of a sudden, dear Art was gone,
My heart was broken, I felt so forlorn.
There we were, three became two,
Jerry and I were alone and so blue.
Just yesterday dear Jerry passed,
Such sadness I feel, the emptiness vast.
We’ve had different journeys we three,
Brothers and sister and now there’s just me.
