On January 7,2014 Heaven gained a beautiful and graceful angel. Lillian M. Dattilo, age 92, of Youngstown went home to be with her heavenly father surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 7, 1921 in Erie, PA, the daughter of Lott and Helena (Wheeler) Dearborn. Lillian was the true matriarch of her family, always there with a kind and gentle hand. In August of 1941 she married the love of her life James A. Dattilo who preceded her in death on September 30, 1996 after 55 years of marriage. Together they owned and operated several local soda shops and restaurants with the Shangri-la on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls being the last before her retirement. Lillian was loved by all who knew her, always willing to lend a hand. She enjoyed traveling with her family, cooking, and baking. Her famous green beans and eggs with be missed but carried through generations. Above all Lillian's favorite pastime was her family. She enjoyed more than anything watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and blossom leaving with them a legacy never to be forgotten. Although she will be eternally missed, the impact she had on all she touched was simply indescribable. Rest well my Angel until we are all together again.
Lillian leaves behind a loving daughter, MaryLynn (late Robert) Hatfield of Youngstown. MaryLynn loved her mother beyond words and they were inseparable. Not just mother and daughter, but best of friends. A grandson, Robert J. Hatfield of Niagara Falls, her granddaughter who had cared for her the last year of her life, Michelle (Jason) Naughton of Youngstown, and her pride and joy, 5 beautiful great grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, and Emily Hatfield and Joseph and Olivia Naughton. Her dear sister Jean Branch of Lockport and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her 6 brothers, Carl, Elmer, Ross, Emery, Leo and Milton and her sisters Ella and Emma. She was also predeceased by her niece Gloria with whom she shared a very special bond.
