Obituary of Edward P. Rodgers

Edward P. Rodgers, age 81 of Lewiston passed away on Sunday December 15, 2013 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
He was born December 31, 1931in Cherry Grove, PA, the son of the late William and Ida (Wingard) Rodgers. Ed served with the U.S. Army for two years in Japan and then in the Korean Conflict as a member of the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Regiment. Following his honorable discharge in 1952 he relocated to Niagara Falls and was employed by GM, Tonawanda. In 1963 Ed joined Frontier Foundries where he worked until the local plant relocated in 1989. He married Margaret Lewis Kuiper on May 13, 1983 and moved to Lewiston.
A member of the 1 - 3 Club at the Brickyard in Lewiston, the Lewiston Kiwanis, and the Youngstown Yacht Club, Ed enjoyed gardening, reading, dining out with friend, and most of all, traveling. He and his wife visited 64 countries and islands, 9 Canadian Provinces, and boated on 15 major rivers and canals.
Ed is survived by his wife Margaret; daughters, Kathy Rodgers of Meadville, PA and Diane Rodgers of Buffalo, NY; step daughter, Cindy (Anthony) DiLorenzo of Camillus, NY, step son David (Sue Ann) Kuiper of Huntington Beach, CA, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Leonard, Willard, Robert, Andrew, Mildred, Min, and Jane.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday, December 20, from 2 - 4 pm. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Missions, 1570 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
