Obituary of Gerald A. Skene

Gerald A. Skene, age 75 of Lewiston, died Monday September 16, 2013 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Gerry was born October 14, 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late George A. and Norine (Best) Skene and has lived in Lewiston the past 20 years. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He served until his honorable discharge in 1960. Gerry worked as a Machine Operator for Moore Business Forms for a number of years before joining Color Forms, Inc. in Tonawanda for 15 years. As a young man, Gerry enjoyed drag racing at the Niagara Drag Strip and playing baseball. He now enjoyed watching drag racing on TV, as well as the Boston Red Sox. Gerry also enjoyed music especially the "Four Freshman". He is survived by his sister, Mary (Richard) Wilkinson of Ransomville; a nephew, Jeff (Shelly) Wilkinson; a niece, Pamela (Tim) Phillips; great nieces, Erin and Kayla Wilkinson, and Emily Phillips; and a great nephew, Kyle Phillips. He was predeceased by a nephew, Rick Wilkinson. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 29, at 3:00 PM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 400 Ridge St. Lewiston, with the Rev. LeAnn McConchie officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to a Charity of one's choice.
