Obituary of Anne O. Gibson

Anne Ogden Gibson, age 86 of Lewiston, died Sunday November 15, 2009 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Anne was born May 30, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Fred Florin and Gertrude (Everett) Ogden and lived most of her life in Youngstown and moved to Lewiston in the mid 1980's. She was a 1941 graduate of the Lewiston Red Brick Schoolhouse and married Howard C. Gibson in 1952. Howard predeceased her in 1988. Anne owned and operated Yankee Spirits in Youngstown from the late 1960's to the late 1980's. Mrs. Gibson was active in the Youngstown Republican Women's Committee. She was instrumental in organizing P-FLAG in Western NY. Anne was a former president of the Lewiston Historical Society and had formerly attended the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. She is survived by her children; Sandra (David) Stevens of Lewiston, Mark Gibson of Brooklyn, NY, Kurt Gibson of Manhattan, NY, and Eric (Denise) Gibson of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Pierce, Emily Jane, Holland, and Sullivan Gibson, Michael, Christopher, and Theodore Mehl; and a sister in law, Mary Ogden of Austin, TX. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert Ogden. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St. Youngstown, with the Rev. Rex Stewart officiating. There is no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O.
