Obituary of Josephine A. Tokarchick

Josephine A. Tokarchick, age 88 of Lewiston, died Saturday August 17, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Josephine was born March 19, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Maliszewski) Kaczmarzyk. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and on July 19, 1946 she married John Tokarchick. Josephine worked for many years as a secretary at Hooker Chemical Co. and then at Durez Co. in North Tonawanda. In 1976 she moved with her family to Sidney, IL where she was employed as a secretary for Humko, a subsidiary of Kraft Foods. After the death of her husband, John, in 1984 she retired and returned to Western New York. She loved traveling to Europe and throughout the U.S. with her dear friend, Dorothy Ulrich, and she also enjoyed quilting. Josephine was a communicant of St., Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown. She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Nick) Cristiano of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Jeanine (John) Jesz and Natalie (Jud) Myers; her great grandchildren, Linsey and Kamryn Myers, and Jackson Jesz; her step great grandchildren, J.D., Joshua, and Veronica; a sister, Helen Richmond of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister in law, Nancy Kaczmarzyk of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Peter Tokarchick; a brother, Walter Kaczmarzyk; a brother in law, James Richmond; and a niece, Lori Kaczmarzyk. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Tuesday from 2 - 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 21, at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman & Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating.(Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to a Charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
