Obituary of Darrell A. Eddings

Darrell A. Eddings, age 77, a 40 year resident of Youngstown, died Tuesday August 6, 2013 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness.
Darrell was born July 19, 1936 in Punxsutawney, PA, the son of the late Kenneth and Esther (Norris) Eddings. He grew up in Niagara Falls and was a 1954 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had attended Niagara University. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves at Old Fort Niagara when he was 16 and volunteered for active duty in November of 1955. Darrell served as a Radarman 2nd Class aboard the USS Canberra and was honorably discharged in August of 1958 in Portsmouth, VA. In 1960 Darrell began his career as a Police Officer with the Niagara Falls Police Department and retired in 1980 as a Detective. He then was employed as a Security Coordinator by E.I. DuPont Co. in Niagara Falls for 18 years, retiring in 1998.
Darrell was a member of the Community Bible Church in the Town of Cambria and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Niagara Falls. He was very proud of his service as a police officer and loved his family and his God.
He is survived by his wife, Carol T. (Lowman) Eddings, whom he married August 10, 1957; his daughter, Kendra (Bruce) Bartlett of Jacksonville, IL; his granddaughter, Alyssa Bartlett; and a brother, Herbert R. (Mary) Eddings of Hot Springs, AR.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 10, at 11:00 AM in the Community Bible Church, 4168 Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Brad Delp officiating, followed by Military Honors. Burial will be private in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined.
