SFC David R. Munn, US Army, Ret., age 71 of Lewiston was called to "Fiddler's Green" on Monday, July 22, 2013 at his residence after a lengthy illness. David was born October 7, 1941 in Syracuse, NY and was raised by Leo & Dorothy Pottle of the Town of Niagara, NY. He married Elizabeth Servos on October 4, 1980. Elizabeth predeceased him on March 12, 2000. SFC Munn was a "Career Tanker" with the US Army Tank Corps for 20 years retiring in 1979. He had received numerous commendations and medals while in the Army. From 1967 to 1968 he served in Vietnam with "F" Troop 17th U.S. Armored Cavalry, 196th Infantry Brigade. SFC Munn also served a tour of duty in Korea and 4 tours in Germany. While stationed at Ft. Knox, KY he was a Senior Tank Gunnery Instructor and a member of the US Army Armor Association, in addition to the New York State VFW. A Graveside service with full Military Honors will be held Thursday, August 1, at 11:00 am in the Veteran's Section of Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston. There will be no prior visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. # 1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. Sixth St. Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts. Lewiston, NY.
