Obituary of Sophie Rajczak

Sophie Rajczak, age 95 of Lewiston died Tuesday July 2, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, after a short illness. Sophie was born July 3, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Ignatius and Stella (Wrobel) Fortuna and had attended local schools. She was married to Joseph Rajczak from1949 to his passing in 1983. Sophie has resided in Lewiston the past 25 years. She was employed as an assembly line packer by Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls for 10 years. Sophie was a former member of Holy Trinity RC Church in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and Polish cooking. She is survived by a sister, Celia Rodina of Lewiston; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marcia Rajczak; a brother, Edward Fortuna; and three sisters, Emily Sajdak, Stella Adam, and Mary Fortuna. A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 11:00 am in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston, with the Rev. Jack Mazur officiating. No prior visitation. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Cemetery, Town of Lewiston. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to the Historical Holy Trinity RC Church, 1419 Falls St., Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
