Mark Farrell

Mark W. Farrell of Lewiston passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2013 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mark was born on November 22, 1956 in Niagara Falls, New York to his wonderful parents, the late Jeremiah (Jerry) and Catherine (O'Brien) Farrell Backlas, He grew up in Niagara Falls, attended Mt. Carmel parochial school and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1974. He worked for STV Cable as a linesman for 15 years along with owning the former Little Willie's and Night Owls taverns. He was also employed for 15 years by N.C.C.C. as a groundskeeper. Mark loved spending time with his family and friends and will always be remembered for his quiet smile and willingness to always help anyone in need. His kindness and compassion towards others was recently witnessed by the vast number of family and friends who supported him in a benefit that was held in his honor. Mark will be forever missed by his wife, Carol (Sloma), his four sons, Mark (Jamie) Farrell of Bethesda, MD, Brian Farrell of Dallas, TX, Joseph Olivero of Cambria, NY and Michael Olivero of Ransomville, NY, his sister Patricia (Anthony) Conte of Dallas, TX, his brothers Michael (Tina) Farrell, Kevin (Rita) Farrell and Jeremy (Luanne) Farrell all of Niagara Falls, NY, his mother-in-law, Golden Myers, of Youngstown, NY and step-father Richard Backlas of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by many beautiful cousins, nieces and nephews and his very special friends, Joe and Joanne Mang. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridges Sts., Lewiston on Monday from 3 - 8 pm. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, at 10:00 am in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 27th & Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with the Duane Klizek Officiating. (Please Assemble at Church). Flowers are gratefully declined.
