Obituary of Catherine A. McMillan

Catherine A. McMillan, age 91 of Lewiston, died Sunday April 28, 2013 in the Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston. She was born Caterina Salvatore on September 28, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Teresa (Fabiano) Salvatore. She was a School Secretary, employed by Community Consolidated School District 54 in Illinois for 18 years. Catherine moved back to Niagara Falls after her retirement 28 years ago and then lived in Lewiston for a number of years. She was a member of and very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, especially with the Presbyterian Women. She has also served as publicity chairperson for many years. Catherine enjoyed reading, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles "LaVerne" McMillan and is survived by a son, Scott P. McMillan of Buffalo; a daughter, Patricia A. Sheehan of Granger, IN; a daughter in law, Florence McMillan of Indiana; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren cousin, nieces, and nephews. She was also predeceased by a son, Charles "Chuck" McMillan; and two brothers, Ernest and Joseph Salvatore. Catherine had donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift program at the University of Buffalo. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 25, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Robert Bellingham officiating.
