Obituary of Joan Stephens

Joan Warner Stephens, age 77 of Lewiston died Thursday May 2, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Joan was born September 2, 1935 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Howard and Ellen (Eloise Heary) Warner. She was a 1953 graduate of LaSalle High School and in 1955 she married Laurence A. Stephens. They have resided in Lewiston since 1967. Joan had worked in the Technical Publications Department of Bell Aircraft Corp. in the 1950's. During the 1970's and 1980's she was employed as a Dental Secretary by Dr. John Dowdall. Joan was an active member of the Lewiston Service Guild since 1972. She was a past member of the St. Paul's Altar Guild in Lewiston. Joan enjoyed time at her cottage in Rushford, NY, playing bridge with friends, having lunch with "the girls from LaSalle", and especially playing games with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Laurence; her children, Laurence G. (Cynthia) Stephens of Garland, TX, Wilfred C. (Pamela) Stephens of Lewisville, TX, and Karen (Thomas) Geelan of Springville, NY; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Bryan, Lindsey, Haleigh, Heather, and Andrew Stephens, and Kayla Geelan; two great grandchildren; a brother, Glenn (Sue) Warner of Marietta, GA; a daughter in law, Joan B. Stephens of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Stephens. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Saturday, May 4, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Flowers are gratefully declined.
