Obituary of Harry Figura

Harry Figura, age 88 of Ransomville, died on Tuesday April 23, 2013 while under the loving care of his family and Hospice in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Harry was born September 19, 1924 in Ransomville, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Kubuious) Figura. A lifelong resident, he was a 1942 graduate of Wilson High School. For the next 43 years Harry owned and operated his dairy, fruit and vegetable farm, which consisted of over 400 acres. He retired in 1985. Harry was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Wilson, the 3-F Conservation Club, the Farm Bureau, the Niagara County Cooperative, and the Niagara County Milk Cooperative. He had also served on the Grievance Board for the Town of Wilson. Harry enjoyed watching football and golf, bowling and playing cards. On July 27, 1957 he married Jean Harper. Jean predeceased him in 2008. Harry is survived by a daughter, Jane (Peter) Hamilton of Ransomville; a son, Matthew (Michelle) Figura of Lockport; his grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Truesdell, Matthew, Jr. & Melissa Figura , Marquette (Nick) Pollow , and Katherine (Tom) Olson; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Cox of Laconia, NH, Florence (Francis) Gergal of Ransomville, and Agnes "Wanda" Quigley of Florida; and two brothers, Richard Figura and Joseph (Celia) Figura both of Ransomville. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Wayne Figura; and three brothers, Henry, John, and Bruno Figura. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 27, at 10:00 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, 431 Lake St. Wilson, with the Rev. Judith Lee officiating.(Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria.
