James M. "Gentleman Jim" McIntyre, age 85 of Lewiston, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a fire at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2013. Jim was born July 5, 1927 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Angus and Janet (Ramsey) McIntyre. He attended Maple Ave. School and was a 1945 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Jim served as a photographer in the U.S. Army Signal Corp from February 1946 to his honorable discharge in April of 1947. He became a Licensed Land Surveyor in 1954 and founded McIntyre Land Surveying in Niagara Falls. Jim operated his business until his retirement in 2012 at which time his son, Jared acquired it and continues to serve the community. He married Shirley (Willmott) McIntyre on March 3, 1972. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of the Niagara Falls Country Club. He enjoyed sailing, boating, traveling, and he also collected antique cars. He and Shirley enjoyed their home in Naples, Fl as well. Jim will be remembered as an outstanding loving father. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by 9 children, 11 grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn Goss. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angus and Hugh McIntyre. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERALHOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, April 20, from 1 - 5 pm. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
