Obituary of D. Irene Shorey

D. Irene Shorey, 91, of Lewiston, NY, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Ontario, Canada on February 6, 1922 to the late James E. and Dorothy (Comstock) Shorey and moved to Niagara Falls, NY at a young age where she attended local schools. She moved to Lewiston in the 1950's where she has resided since. Irene became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston in 1962 and worked as the Bookkeeper of the Church for many years, along with being the Church Historian and serving as the Treasurer of the Presbyterian Womens Group. She enjoyed the many dinners and parties the church hosted and working with the staff. Irene also loved her pets and walking along the Niagara River. She is survived by her Church family and many dear friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Charles LaPlaca officiating. No Prior Visitation. Burial will be private at Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials may be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, Lewiston, NY.
