Dorothy L. Blue, age 94 of Lewiston died Friday February 1, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born February 17, 1918 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Laird) Upton. She was a 1936 graduate of Niagara Falls Collegiate & Technical Institute in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Dorothy worked at Stynes Pharmacy in Niagara Falls, NY for 13 years then at Prescription Laboratories on Cedar Ave. in Niagara Falls for 8 years retiring in 1972. On Valentine's Day in 1976 she married Frederick P. Blue, Jr. and they resided in Youngstown. Frederick predeceased her on December 2, 2012. Dorothy was a "Gray Lady" of the American Red Cross at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and volunteered with the United Way. She loved to dance and enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, William MacVie of the Town of Wheatfield, Frederick (Nancy) MacVie of Kenai, AK, and Robert (Rhonda) MacVie of Youngstown; his step children, Frederick P. (Johanna) Blue, III of Youngstown and Scott A. (Rachael) Blue of Saverna Park, MD; a brother, Charles (Margaret) Upton of Niagara Falls, Ontario; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and John "Jack" Upton. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 10:00 AM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, with the Rev. Gerard Haberstro officiating. Burial will be private in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
