Nellie Mae Monahan, age 94 of Ransomville died Wednesday January 16, 2013 in the Elderwood Health Care at Linwood in Lancaster, NY.
Nellie was born February 18, 1918 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Lee and Evelyn Henry and had resided in the Town of Porter all her life. She was a member of the 10th graduating class of Youngstown High School in 1936 and on October 7, 1937 she married Lawrence C. Monahan. Lawrence predeceased her on August 10, 2007. Nellie was a homemaker her entire life except for three years employment at Auto Life Corp. in Niagara Falls, NY. She was a Red Cross Volunteer at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital for 40 years.
She is survived by her children, Richard "Bud" (Anne) St. Laurent of New Port Richey, FL, Robert (Diane) St. Laurent of Dunnellon, FL, Peter (Karen) Monahan and Ken (former wife Debi) Monahan both of Ransomville; 24 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by a son, Peter St. Laurent; a grandson, Thomas St. Laurent; two brothers, George and Leo Henry; and two sisters, Eleanor Fliss and Evelyn St. Laurent.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Saturday, January 19, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria.
