Obituary of Reginald W. Bonnevie

Reginald W. Bonnevie "Reggie" Loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great Great Grandfather Reginald W. Bonnevie, age 90 of West Palm Beach, FL and Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston on January 10, 2013. He was the son of the late Mathias and Fidelis (Despres) Bonnevie. Born in Lewiston, Maine he attended local schools and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WW II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. After his return he worked in the Portland Shipyard as a welder. In 1946 Reggie married the love of his life, Rita (Dussault) Bonnevie who sadly predeceased him in 2004. Together they relocated of Niagara Falls and started a memorable life together. Reggie was a wonderful man who many different hats in his lifetime. He worked many years in the food service industry and lavished over a good cut of meat and knew how to coordinate a great party. He took his skills to the Niagara Falls Air Force Base where he retired in 1985. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors whether it be attending to his meticulously groomed yard, riding his bike, playing racquet ball or teaching his grandchildren how to swim in his backyard pool; but his greatest passion was music of which he was an accomplished musician. He played "Bertha" his bass with many great local bands in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. Reggie will be deeply missed by his daughters, Shirley (Raymond) Millette, Elaine (Emanuel) Polizzi, and son, David (Kari) Bonnevie; grandchildren, Allyson, Chris, Eric (Kim), Scott and Melanie (Eric Baldwin) Millette, Jay (Jamie), Jon (Kim), Jessica (Kenny Haddun), and Jamie Polizzi, Phillip (Danielle), Julie (Chris Scott), and Michele (fiancé` Bill Vaughn) Bonnevie; as well as 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Reggie was also predeceased by 7 brothers and 1 sister. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 18, from 4 to 8 pm at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston. A Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, at 9:00 am in St. Vincent De Paul-Prince of Peace RC Church, 1055 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Reggie's name to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, 5285 Lewiston Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
