Obituary of Jeanne Shearer

Jeanne Shearer, age 98 formerly of Niagara Falls died Sunday December 16, 2012 at her daughter's home in Wilson, while under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Jeanne was born May 8, 1914 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late John A. and Lila P. (Kunkle) Helman. She married Lawrence "Roy" Shearer in 1945 and they moved to Niagara Falls. Roy predeceased her in 1995 and she moved to Wilson five years ago. For 11 years in the 1970 and 1980's Jeanne worked in the dietary department at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She was a former member of St. James United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls. An avid bowler, Jeanne bowled in many leagues in the Falls. She loved reading, soap operas, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children; Judy (Joe) Yorkoski, Paige (Darlene) Silvis, Pamela Barber (Dale Shank); Deborah (Bob) Aures; Susan (Richard) Sabey; Timothy Shearer, and Wendy Lojek; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Silvis; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday, December 20, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Memorial Services will begin at 02:00 pm in the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregory Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to Alzheimer's Assoc. of WNY, 2805 Wherle Dr. Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380.
