Obituary of Lila M. Swift

Lila Maurene Swift a 20-year resident of Lewiston passed away Wednesday November 28, 2012 at St. Mary's hospital surrounded by family, following a brief illness at the age of 85. Lila was born in Middletown, Illinois on October 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Becker) Hogman. When Lila was 9 years old she and her family moved from Middletown, IL to Washington State. She was a 1945 graduate of Puyallup High School in Puyallup, WA. Lila married Thomas B. Swift on November 15, 1952 in Tacoma, WA. She is predeceased by her husband who passed away November 7, 1980. She worked for Western Electric and Sparks Family Medical Center for many years. She retired in 1993 and moved to Lewiston, NY to be with her family. Lila was an avid sports fan, loved bowling and camping. She volunteered where and when she could throughout her life. Lila was very positive person with a great sense of humor, and a loving spirit. Lila is survived by her beloved twin sons and their wives, Thomas (Mary Beth) Swift of Lewiston, NY and Timothy (Jackie Ashworth) Swift of Youngstown, NY along with her cherished grandchildren Adam and Morgan Swift of Lewiston, NY, brothers, Manford Hogman and William Hogman of Puyallup, WA, along with (numerous) nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Harold Hogman of Puyallup, WA, Ernest Hogman of Tucson, AZ, Jane Giuliani of Renton, WA, Ruth Johnston of Graham, WA and Florence Hankel of Vashon, WA. On behalf of Lila and her family, we wish to thank the wonderful caring staff of former Fairchild Manor for ten plus years and nearly two years at Riverwood Health Care Center on Grand Island, NY. All of you treated Lila with dignity, love, and great care. The family will be present at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Street Lewiston, NY on Monday December 3, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. with a brief prayer to follow. Lila will be laid to rest on December 6th at Mt. View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA.
