Obituary of Dorothy M. Dieter

Dorothy M. Dieter, age 86 of Lewiston, formerly of Balmer Rd. in Youngstown, died Thursday November 1, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Dorothy was born November 10, 1925 in Salamanca, NY, the daughter of the late Adam and Katherine (Simsick) Matusik. She graduated from Salamanca High School in 1943 and married Robert G. Dieter, of Alleghany, in Holy Cross Church in Salamanca on June 5, 1948. They lived in Olean, NY from 1949 to 1954 before moving to Youngstown. Robert predeceased her on November 1, 1994. Dorothy worked at the Bell Test Center in 1955 & 1956 and started working for Federal Government in 1957 at Ft. Niagara in the Finance Department. She was transferred to the Department of Air Force, 914th Tac Supply Office as an Accounting Technician. Dorothy retired in January 1988 after 291/2 years in Government Service. She was a member of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown and the Lewiston Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. She is survived by a sister, Loretta M. (late Kenneth) Phillips of Salamanca, NY as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Alexander, and Stanley Matusik; and two sisters, Sophia Capozzi and Christine Gibbons. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman and Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
