John P. Kelly, age 79 of Youngstown , formerly of Warwick, NY and Ft. Myers, FL, died Wednesday October 24, 2012 surrounded by his family, in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. John was born July 28, 1933 in Teaneck, NJ, the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret (Coleman) Kelly. He was a graduate of Dumont High School in Bergen Co., NJ. John entered the U.S. Army in August of 1954 and served in Germany. He was the recipient of the Germany Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a SP3 in August of 1956. He was an Elevator Constructor, employed by National Elevator Industry in New York City for 28 years, retiring in 1991. He has resided in Youngstown the past 19 years. John was a member of the V.F.W. Lake Ontario Post # 313 in Youngstown. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Ft. Myers, FL. He was also an avid NY Yankee and New England Patriot Fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. On August 16, 2003 John married Sandra M. (Myers) Stevens Kelly. In addition to Sandra he is survived by his children, Joseph P. Kelly of Delray Beach, FL, Nancy (Donald) Driscoll of N. Grafton, MA, and Carolyn (Nick) Ryberg of Holland, MI; Sandra's children, John A. (Kristal) Stevens, Jr. of Youngstown, NY, Cynthia Stevens-Weeks of Newfane, NY, and Jeffrey Stevens of Ransomville, NY; his grandchildren, Tara Scharf, Brianne and Joseph Kelly, Sherri Valley, Jacqueline Ryberg, Megan Driscoll, Kerriann and Caylin Kelly, Stephanie Sullivan, Ryan Driscoll, John Marshall Stevens, Hunter and Kody Khan; 3 great grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph, Robert, and Michael Kelly all of New Jersey; three sisters, Helen Collins and Geraldine Quku of New Jersey, and Mary Argenti of Florida; his former wife, Margaret Kelly of Michigan; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Scharf; and three brothers, Gerard, Raymond, and Eugene Kelly. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, October 27, from 2 - 4 pm. Military Honors will be held at 4:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home from 6 - 8 pm.
