Philip David Voelker, age 68 of Ransomville, went home to the Lord on Thursday October 4, 2012 in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness.
Philip was born July 19, 1944 in Lockport and had attended Lockport Schools. He was the son of the late Theodore and Anna (Radloff) Voelker. Philip married Janice Moeller on July 26, 1986 and they have resided in Ransomville the past 16 years. He was Relief Aide, employed by Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara for 20 years retiring in 2008. Philip also had worked as a custodian at Marine Midland Bank (HSBC) in Lockport for many years.
He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockport and currently a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge where he had served on the Board of Trustees and as an Elder. Philip was a vice president of Eastern District Lutheran Laymen's League; a member of Trinity's Men's Club; and served on the Pioneer Association of Volunteers. He was also a former Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Choir.
He is survived by his wife, Janice (Moeller) Voelker; two brothers in law, Tim (Judi) Moeller of North Tonawanda and Daniel Moeller of Johnson City, TN; and a God daughter, Allisa Smith.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 8, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
