Obituary of Eugene R. Parrone

Eugene "Gene" R. Parrone, age 80, passed away Thursday May 7, 2009 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Gene was born September 2, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Gildo and Lavinia (Fideli) Porroni. On October 25, 1950 he married Helen G. (Craig) Parrone and together they operated many local businesses. They ran the Lewiston Sunoco, the Buena Vista Restaurant, the Kountry Kernel and most recently, Parrone's Harding Restaurant in Youngstown. Gene was a past member of the Lewiston Kiwanis and had served on the Peach Festival Committee as well as many other activities. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Helen, on June 21, 2008. He is survived by two brothers, Jerome (Lorraine) Porroni of Lewiston and Richard (Judy) Porroni of Lockport; his good friend, John Prozeralik as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 11, at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman and Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co., PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174.
