Doris P. McGrath, age 90 of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 18, 2012.
Doris was born February 26, 1922 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of the late Carl "Bud" and Vonda (Weber) Proctor. She was a 1940 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and lived most of her life in the Village of Lewiston. On February 6, 1943 she married the love of her life, John D. McGrath and together they raised five daughters. John predeceased her on April 14, 1999. Doris had worked at the Niagara Permanent Savings and Loan from 1069 to 1973. She started as a drive thru teller and retired as Assistant Manager. Doris also volunteered for the Lewiston Sesquicentennial and the Lewiston Museum. She enjoyed golfing for many years and vacationing in Canada and South Carolina.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia "Marcy" (Paul) Malecki of Grand Island, Denise McGrath of Nyack, NY, Marilyn (Jerry) Pedley of Lewiston, Nancy (Randy) Clark of Ransomville, and Jane McGrath of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Penny Holmes, Holly (James) Sullivan, Amy (Dave) Smith, Lindsley McGrath, John (Elizabeth) Conace, Scott Pedley, Sally Flanagan, Sean and Emily Kulak; her great grandchildren, Eric and Josh Smith, Clare and Patrick Sullivan, Megan and Jack Flanagan, and Sebastian Kulak. She was predeceased by her brother, J.D. "Dan" Proctor and a son in law, Timothy Kulak.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday, September 21, from 4 - 7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
