Obituary of Marjorie W. Henderson

Marjorie W. Henderson, age 85 of Lewiston, died Sunday September 16, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston, after a long illness. Marjorie was born March 30, 1927 in Branch County, MI, the daughter of the late Earl and Bertha (Maxwell) Gable. She was a graduate of Trayer one room school house, Brighton Indiana High School, and Ft. Wayne Indiana International Business College. She married Robert E. Henderson on May 27, 1950 and has resided in Lewiston since 1955. Robert predeceased her on March 23, 1968. She began her secretarial career in Ft. Wayne Indiana with Zollner Pistons, Waite Abrasives, Joy MFG. Company and International Minerals/Sobin. Marjorie was a secretary for the Town of Lewiston under Judge Lombardi in the 1970's and 1980's. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co, in Niagara Falls in 1987 after 10 years of service. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Marjorie was a Brownie & Girl Scout Leader; a member of the Lewiston Jaycees; the Thursday Nite Home Ext. Unit; the Lewiston Historical Society; a Charter Member of the Art Park Volunteers; the Herschel Carrousel Factory Museum; the Lewiston Seniors; the Lewiston Funtastics Travel Club and an honorary member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, upholstering, knitting, golfing, bowling, bridge, cross country skiing and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (George) Fowler of Odessa, MO and a son, Daniel R. Henderson of Delray Beach, FL. Marjorie was predeceased by a brother and a sister. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 21, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Robert Bellingham officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts. Lewiston.
