Harriet F. Barber, age 76 of the Town of Lewiston, died Friday September 14, 2012 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness.
Harriet was born August 9, 1936 in Wilson, NY, the daughter of the late William and Florence (Brandenberger) Hecht and was a 1954 graduate of Wilson High School. She had worked as an Assistant to the Director of Ransomville General Hospital and then as an Assistant to the Coordinator of Services at Senior Meadows in Ransomville. Harriet then worked as an Assembly Line Worker at GM Harrison Radiator in Lockport for 22 years. She married Edgar Barber on July 9, 1955. Edgar predeceased her in June of 1992.
Harriet was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge in the Town of Cambria for many years. She loved her Dachshund's and Tim Horton Coffee, and she enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her husband, Harriet was predeceased by her three children, Judith (Paul) Sylvies, Michael and Kelley Barber. She is survived by a sister, Kathleen (late James) Bailey of Youngstown, two brothers, William (Anne) Hecht of Galveston, TX and John Hecht of Lockport; a granddaughter, Jennifer Sylvies; a nephew Donald (Cindy) Bailey and their daughter Lyndsey Bailey of Youngstown.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Sunday from 2 - 5 pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 17, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, or to the Susan G.
