Dorothy M. Schultz, age 100 , a lifelong resident of the Town of Wilson, died Wednesday September 5, 2012 in the Briody Health Care Facility in Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born October 21, 1911 in the Town of Wilson, NY, the daughter, of the late Fred and Edith (Seefeldt) Schultz. She married Elwood R. Schultz on November 23, 1929. He predeceased her on March 28, 1999. Dorothy was the first woman to take her family's farm produce to the Buffalo market. During WW II she drove bus for employees of the TNT (Lake Ontario Ordinance Works). She and her late husband operated Dorwood Park in Ransomville from 1958 to 2003. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, a member of its Ladies Aid Society, and taught Sunday school there as well. She was also a member of the Newfane Senior Citizens and traveled extensively with them, and was a 60 year member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy spent winters in Bradenton, FL for several years and enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Kenneth) Taylor of Olcott and Maxine "Mickey" (Jack) Schultz of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Cynthia Taylor, Brenda (Salvatore) LiPuma, Linda (Max) Hogenes, and Lisa (Warren) Hastings; her great grandchildren, Ashley and Amanda Hogenes, Christiano, Lisa Camille, and Lorna LiPuma, Alison and Benjamin Hastings; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Gladys Keicher, Ethel Strassburg, Ruth Wickham, and Eleanor Clark; a brother, Leo Schultz; and a grandson, Robert Taylor. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 8, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094, Concordia Lutheran Church 3121 Beebe Rd, Newfane, NY 14108 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
