Frank W. Polka Jr., age 85 of Lewiston NY, died Wednesday August 15, 2012 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Frank was born November 15, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Frank W. and Josephine (Ziblut) Polka and has lived in Lewiston the past 60 years. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving in the European Theater of Operations. Frank was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal and the WW II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in October of 1946. On May 22, 1948 he married Shirley L. (May) Polka. Shirley predeceased him on October 17, 1998 Frank was a Maintenance Supervisor employed by SKW Alloy's in Niagara Falls, NY for 44 years, retiring in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston, the Elks, and the Lewiston Senior Citizens. He is survived by two sons, Glenn (Kathy) Polka of Youngstown and Robert Polka (Kelly) of Rush, NY; his grandchildren, Jason, Stephanie, Rebecca, and Thomas Polka; two brothers, Walter (Vickie) Polka of Lewiston and John (Carol) Polka of Sanborn and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday from 4 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, at 10:00 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St. Lewiston, with the Rev. Michael Zuffoletto officiating. Military Honors will follow. (Please assemble at Church). Private burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
