Christopher G. Taczak, age 48 of Lewiston died unexpectedly on Wednesday August 8, 2012 while at work at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Chris was born August 29, 1963 in North Tonawanda, NY, the son of Eva (Clerk) Taczak Leach of Kingman, AZ (formerly of Niagara Falls) and the late Paul Taczak. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School and Erie County Community College. Chris served in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 1987. For the past 12 years, he has been employed by Erie County Medical Center as a Bio Medical Equipment Technician. On April 4, 1994 he married Joy (Harden) Taczak and they moved to Lewiston from Grand Island in 2009. Chris was an avid hunter, archer, outdoorsman, and motorcyclist as well as a trivia master. He loved spending time at Joe's hunting cabin with his buddies, Joe, Jeff, Gary, and Timmy. He is survived by his wife Joy; His mother Eva and step father David Leach; his sons, Tanner and Jeremy Taczak; his step children, Samantha McCollum and Adam (Kacelia) McCollum; brothers, Paul and Robert Taczak; and his sisters, Michele Hearn, Lisa Leach, Donna Pettit, and Lori Comnack. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held graveside on Monday, August 13, at 11:00 AM in the Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd. Youngstown, with the Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049.
