Obituary of Elizabeth Stoyell

Lewiston, Elizabeth A. Stoyell (Betty Ann), age 87, of Lewiston died Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Highland's Living Center, in Pittsford, NY, after a short illness. Elizabeth was born January 29, 1925 in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late John T. and Marie (Kennedy) Williams. She graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson and went to work for Carborundum Corporation where she met the love of her life, John J. Stoyell. Betty married John on October 23, 1948. Betty was also a long term employee of the former B. Altman & Co. Throughout their 59 year marriage they resided with their family in various locations throughout the East Coast, returning to Lewiston upon their retirement in 1987. Elizabeth was a dedicated volunteer at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, where her cheerful smile was much commented on by both the patients and her cherished fellow volunteers. Betty worked tirelessly for four years as an ambassador at the Niagara Falls Festival of Lights. Both she and John delivered meals for the Niagara County Office of the Aging and enjoyed chatting with the elderly homebound. She was also a member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown. Betty celebrated life to the fullest, from her love of her husband , John, and her four daughters, to the great pleasure she relished in spending time in her kitchen. She was predeceased by her husband on January 22, 2007. Betty will be sadly missed by her daughters: Patricia (the late Thomas) Young of Webster, NY, Cynthia (Tim) Spino of Milford, MA, Beth (Peter Hoh) of Hopewell Junction, NY and Karen (Ric) Foley of Odessa, FL; her grandchildren: Kristin, Tracy, T.J., Brian, Katie, Jeffrey, Ashley, Travis, Melanie, and Amber; five great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Marjorie Williams and Peg Stoyell and several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jack and Robert Williams and her sister-in-law: Mary Williams. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 5, at 10:00 am in St Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston,with the Rev. Michael Zuffoletto officiating. (please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to Volunteer Services at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, 5300 Military Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092, c/o Karen Mahoney.
