Obituary of Catherine J. Monaco

Catherine J. Monaco, (nee Murphy)age 90 of Lewiston passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 21, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston. We celebrate the life of Catherine Joan Monaco who was born in Queens, NY on November 22, 1921 to the late William and Julia Murphy. She was a longtime member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens Center and St. Peter's RC Church. Before moving to Lewiston from the Bronx, she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 596, Mt. Vernon, NY and the Wakefield Taxpayer's & Civic league, Inc. Her greatest joy was sharing time with her grandchildren, and being with family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Monaco, the loving mother of Francis (Marilyn Lipscomb)) Monaco of Elbert, CO and Joanne (Kenneth) Willmott of Lewiston; and the devoted grandmother of Christian and Tracey Willmott. She was predeceased by her sister, May (late James) McInerney and her brother, Norman (Elinor) Murphy. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday from 3 - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 24, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Michael Zuffoletto officiating. (Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Public Library, 305 South 8th St., Lewiston, NY 14092 or to a Charity of one's choice.
