Carolyn H. Kolb, age 75 of Youngstown, died Friday October 2, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a long illness.
Carolyn was born October 16, 1933 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late James and Helen (Sheehan) Turner. She was a 1951 graduate of Elmira South Side High School. Carolyn married Lawrence A. Kolb on June 12, 1954 and they have resided in Youngstown the past 39 years. She worked as a Nurses Aide at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston from 1974 to 1977.
Carolyn was a communicant of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown and a 20 year member of its' Altar Rosary Society. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club for over 30 years. She also enjoyed bowling for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence ; her daughter, Virginia (Mark, Sr.) Bucholtz of Youngstown; a son, Thomas (Renee` Blanchette) Kolb of Sykesville, MD; her grandchildren, Stephanie Kolb, Mark Bucholtz, Jr. Robert Bucholtz, and Laura Brodie; three sisters, Rose (Edwin) Berman and Elizabeth Chilson both of Pine City, NY, and Ellen (Robert) Baker of Horseheads, NY. Also survived by great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and James Turner, and a sister, Mary Jane Ruggiero.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Tuesday from 3 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7, at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, 2nd and Hinman Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. (Please assemble at church) Burial will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown.
