James R. "Jim" Toohey, age 65 of Buffalo, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday May 3, 2012. Jim was born August 20, 1946 in Lewiston, the son of the late Patrick and Ethel (Smith) Toohey. He was a 1964 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School and had attended New York University. Jim was s Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1965 to 1969. After his service he was employed as a Mail Sorter for the U.S. Postal Service at the William St. Branch in Buffalo, a job he held for 28 years, retiring in 2009. Jim was an avid antique collector/dealer as well as a NY Yankee fan. He loved the history of Lewiston and the surrounding areas. He is survived by a sister, Patricia A. (Joseph) George of Lewiston; a nephew, Jason (Diana) George of Antrim, NH; two nieces, Jennifer (Michael) Moss of Austintown, OH and Christina (Bobby) Johnston of N. Atlanta, GA; and his great nieces and nephews, Samantha George, Kylee Moss, Victoria, Max, Jackson, and Mason Johnston. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Historical Assoc. 469 Plain St., Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
