Obituary of Anne M. Allen

Lantana, Fl Anne Marie (Stack) Allen, age 86 formerly of Lewiston, died on Thursday May 3, 2012 at her home in Florida while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Palm Beach County. Anne was born April 20, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Brew) Stack. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and met her future husband, Charles Ethan Allen, while they attended Kelly Business School. They were married on September 11, 1948 at St. Theresa's RC Church in Niagara Falls and together they raised five children. Charles predeceased her in 1999. In her later years Anne worked at several retail positions, Jenss, Jay's Drug Store, and most recently at DiCamillo's Bakery. She was a member of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and always active in her community. Anne volunteered as a "Gray Lady" at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. . She was active with the Lewiston Kiwanis Club and their Peach Festival Peach Queen Contest. She had a great love of reading, nature and animals. Anne is survived by her children, Sean (Mary) Allen of Laura, OH, Kevin (Lyn) Allen of Palatine, IL, Nancy A. (David) Crown of Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada, Carol A. (Joseph) Dowe of ,Mebane, NC, and Kathleen A. (John) Dowd of Lake Worth, FL; her grandchildren, Keenan and Erin Dowd, Justin and Shannon Crown, Conor, Ryan. Patrick, and Laura Allen; two great grandchildren, Macy Allen and Bethany Dowd; a brother, Thomas Stack of Las Cruces, NM; a sister, Mildred Stack Southwood of Niagara Falls, NY; and her special cat; "Riley" . The family also wishes to honor the memory of Jim Solberg. Anne and Jim met several years ago in Florida and were close and supporting companions. Sadly, Jim died April 4, 2012 from complications from surgery. The family believes that Anne died in part from a broken heart, having lost the two most omportant men in her life. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Tuesday, May 8, from 5 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, at 10:00 am in the Niagara University Chapel, Lewiston Rd., Lewiston.(Please assemble at Niagara University Chapel). Entombment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston will be private. Flowers are gratefully declined.
