Obituary of Lillian M. Fryer

Lillian M. "Chick" Fryer, age 92 formerly of Ransomville, went to heaven to join her husband, Clarence and infant son, Charles, on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a brief illness. Lillian was born August 15, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late William and Sophie (Rheinheimer) Feuerbach. In 1943 she enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Corp in New York City. Lillian was assigned to the WAC Detachment Headquarters Command, ETOUSA and served overseas from April of 1944 to October of 1945. She was the recipient of the Victory Medal, the WAAC Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 brass service star for taking part in the Rhineland Campaign. Lillian was honorably discharged in November of 1945. On March 30, 1946 she married Clarence A. Fryer who predeceased her in 1974. Lillian had lived in Ransomville for 27 years before moving to Lockport where she lived for 30 years. She then lived in Barker for 6 years before moving to Wheatfield this past November. Lillian had worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Lockport for many years. Lillian, affectionately known as "Chick", was a devoted volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Niagara County for over 55 years. She was also a member of the Women's Memorial Foundation in Washington, DC; and former member of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville and a member of Our lady of the Lake RC Church in Barker. (Formerly St. Patrick's RC Church). She is the loving devoted mother of Jacqueline Fryer of Rochester, NY, Janine Kraatz of Florence, KY, Jay (Sukie) Fryer of Dallas, NC, and Jon (Colleen) Fryer of North Tonawanda. Also survived by a brother, Bernard (Nona) Feuerbach of Stuart, FL; a sister, Theresa (Bob) Beebe of Sebastian, FL; sisters in law, Virginia Feuerbach of North Tonawanda and Mickey Fryer of Alma Gordo, NM; brothers in law, Gordon Bailey of Clayton, NY and Jack Fryer (Mickey) of Herkimer, NY; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces nephews, family friends, and Girl Scout friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Francis Feuerbach; and a sister, Blanche Feuerbach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 3, at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Rd. (Rte. 429), Ransomville with the Rev. Joseph Badding and the Rev. James Hassett officiating. (Please assemble at Church) There will be no prior visitation. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Flowers are gratefully declined.
