Zilpha G. Petty, age 94 formerly of Wilson, entered into rest on Thursday April 26, 2012 at the Elderwood Health Care Center at Oakwood in Williamsville, NY. Zilpha was born July 3, 1917 in Ellington, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Ruth (Robertson) Gates. She was a graduate of Houghton College and received her Master's Degree in Reading from the University of Buffalo. Zilpha was Director of Reading, at Wilson Central High School, retiring after 20 years. Mrs. Petty attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lockport and the Exely United Methodist Church in Wilson. She also was a member of the Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the NY State Retired Teachers Association, and the Dale Association. She is the beloved wife of the late Archie Petty; the loving mother of Judy (Dr. Arden) Kane of Charleston, SC, Colleen (L. Robin) Slate of Lockport, and Pam (David) Scott of Brockport, NY; and the cherished grandmother of 6 and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville.
