J. Richard Moses

November 26, 1926 — April 21, 2012

J. Richard "Dick" Moses, 85, of Collierville, TN died April 21, 2012. He is survived by his sister, Ann Palmer of Lewiston NY, two nephews and one niece. He leaves behind a legacy that includes four children (Chris of Kansas City, MO, Cathy of Phoenix, AZ, Robert of Fairfax Station, VA and Richard of Germantown, TN), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Born November 26, 1926 in Niagara Falls NY, to the late John and Mae Moses, he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during WWII and married the late Lois "Fern" Moses in 1947, building their home in the village of Lewiston, NY. Dick worked for Kimberly Clark Corporation for 42 years. In 1972 he relocated to Memphis, TN with the company and then to Collierville, TN in 1994 after his retirement. His many accomplishments included, ten years as a Trustee on the village board of Lewiston, as well as 10 years as a member of the volunteer fire department. He volunteered at The Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association, the Page Robbins Adult Day Care Center and Stern Cardiovascular Center. In a time when close knit neighborhoods are a rarity, he became a mentor to the young boys near his home teaching them the value of doing a job right every time. Dick was a 50 year member of the Masonic Fraternity. "Raised" in Ransomville, NY, he joined Collierville Masonic Lodge #152 and was a 32° in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Memphis. As a lifelong Episcopalian, he served as a member of the vestry in each of the Churches he attended. He was a member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Collierville and a former membe rof St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lewiston. His children will hold a Memorial service on Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 am at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5871 Military Rd. Lewiston and invite all who knew him to join them in this celebration of his life. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Salvation Army, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or Page-Robbins Adult Day Care Center in Collierville, TN. As a member of America's "greatest generation", his core values were integrity, sense of duty and loyalty. Dick put service before self and was an inspiration to all.
