Obituary of Paula M. Walker

Paula M. Walker, age 67 of Lewiston NY, died unexpectedly on Friday March 16, 2012 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Paula was born July 2, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Neville and Beatrice (Wobig) Shiffer and was a lifelong resident of Lewiston. She was a 1962 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School and in 1966 she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mt. St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Paula worked as a nurse at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Nursing Facility from 1971 to 1974. She married Alfred G. Walker on August 25, 1973. Paula was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, in Niagara Falls and the Lewiston Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sports in High School and traveling with church groups, visiting friends, helping and volunteering. She was a nature lover as well as enjoyed studying theology and reading. She is survived by her husband, Alfred; her daughters, Janet E. Walker of Newport Beach, CA and Sharon A. (Ryan) Wisnieski of Austin, TX, her grandchildren, Jonathan Blaine and Arden Wisnieski; a brother, David (Marilyn) Shiffer of Panama City, FL; and her step mother, Irene (Rich) Shiffer of Lewiston; and a sister in law, Dorothy Walker of Lockport. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Furan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 624 Hyde Park Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
