Obituary of Daniel S. Tobey

Daniel S. Tobey, age 55 of the Town of Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Saturday February 11, 2012 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Daniel was born November 15, 1956 in Lewiston, the son of the late Granville C. and Millicent (Reynolds) Tobey. He was a 1974 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School and in 1976 he received his Associates Degree in Welding from Delhi Community College in New York City. Daniel married Catherine (Pruett) Tobey on June 5, 1976. He has been employed by Ascension Industries in North Tonawanda for the past 15 years, currently as Plant Manager. He has been a coach for youth hockey in the Niagara Wheatfield and Grand Niagara Leagues for 15 years. Daniel enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, and his pet dogs, Rusty, Mikie, Rocky, and Quincy. He especially enjoyed being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his children, Daniel S. (Nicole) Tobey of Niagara Falls, NY and Angela Tobey of the Town of Lewiston; his brothers and sisters, Marilyn (Edward) Matson of Ransomville, Carol (Ronald) Goodwin of Carson City, NV, John "Jack" (Joanne) Tobey of Trinity, NC, Kathleen Stafford (John Kelly) of the Town of Lewiston, Rex (Donna) Tobey of Sanborn, and David (Susan) Tobey of Whitesville, NY; several nieces and nephews; his mother in law, Ruby Pruett; his sister in law, Donna (Mike) Broussard; and his best friends, Debb & Terry Pierce. He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Maureen Cockerell and two brothers, James and Roger Tobey. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday, February 15, from 4 - 7 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating.
